Job Description

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the full-time position of Deputy Sheriff(s). All minimum ILEA hiring standards apply. ILEA certified Law Enforcement Officers are preferred. The hiring process will include an oral interview, MMPI testing and a thorough background check. Non-ILEA- certified applicants, being considered for these positions, will be required to pass the POST test and physical fitness testing. ILEA Certified Officers with break in employments as a Law Enforcement Officer for 180 days or longer will be required to pass the ILEA physical fitness standards. Out-of-State certified applicants will be required to get ILEA certification through examination in Iowa.

Job Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Must be of good moral character.

Job Hours

Work hours will vary.
Shifts will rotate.
Some weekend and holiday shifts required.
